After School Club Manager Full Time

Edinburgh, SCT, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you an experienced after school club manager, or a deputy looking to step up? Or maybe you're a nursery manager who loves working with children, but struggles to find a good work / life balance due to the long hours and endless evenings of paperwork? If this is you keep reading!

Daddy Daycare operates six after school clubs, and we do things a bit differently. We have advanced AI-supported systems that make your role easier, an admin team that handles all client emails and billing, and every manager role includes dedicated paid admin hours that can be done from home, away from the children.

About Daddy Daycare Edinburgh

Daddy Daycare Edinburgh is a small, family-run childcare business that's been providing exceptional care for children since 2013. We focus on creating a nurturing and fun environment where children actively participate in their care--from choosing their activities to picking snacks. Our clubs are child-centred, and the children even have a say in the interview process - they're fantastic judges of character!

We are now looking for a dedicated After School Club Manager to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in childcare management or a related field such as teaching, who is looking to make a real difference in a family-friendly, supportive environment.

About the Role

As the After School Club Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our after-school club. You'll work closely with children, staff, and parents to ensure a safe, fun, and stimulating environment for primary school-aged children. Your role will be a combination of direct childcare, staff management, and administrative duties, with a strong emphasis on planning and maintaining high standards of care.

We are looking for a manager to work up to 35 hours per week: 22 in the club during after school hours, with the rest as paid admin time. We can be very flexible about when you work these hours. We're also open to candidates looking to work slightly fewer hours; as working parents ourselves, we understand that many people need flexibility--whether for caring responsibilities, health, hobbies, or side gigs. We understand people work to live, not live to work!

Key Responsibilities

Running the Club:

Ensure a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for the children. Plan and lead fun, educational activities each day. Provide healthy snacks that meet nutritional guidelines. Lead by example, modelling high-quality interactions and play. Engage with parents, offering updates and ensuring communication remains strong. Manage children's medical needs, including allergies and healthcare plans.

Team Leadership:

Lead and inspire a team of staff, ensuring that children are well supervised and supported. Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, supervisions, and staff appraisals. Lead weekly team meetings and provide on-the-job training to staff members. Ensure efficient staff deployment throughout the day. Support new staff and provide mentoring to ensure high standards are upheld.

Administration & Club Development:

Complete and update care and healthcare plans for children. Monitor and implement improvements to ensure the club continually meets high standards. Order club resources and manage inventory. Complete staff timesheets and payroll tasks. Plan and minute staff meetings. Ensure compliance with the club's quality framework and work towards maintaining high-quality standards.

About You

We are looking for a highly organised and experienced manager who has the following qualifications and attributes:

Experience:

Previous experience in a childcare setting (after-school club, nursery, or school) or a related field such as teaching. Ideally, experience in managing or leading a team, such as in a manager or room lead role.

Qualifications:

SVQ3 or equivalent childcare qualification. You must either hold or be working towards a Manager-level qualification, such as a BA or PDA level 9 in Childhood Practice (we offer qualification support). Transferable qualifications (e.g., qualified teachers, nurses, midwives) will be considered.

Skills:

Highly organised with excellent multitasking skills. Ability to lead and inspire a team while maintaining a positive and supportive environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with children, staff, and parents. A passion for working with children and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of care.

What We Offer:

Supportive Environment:

As a small, family-run business, you will receive extensive support from the owners and our Senior Operations & Quality Manager.

Competitive Salary:

A salary commensurate with experience, offering an attractive package for the right candidate.

Flexible Working Hours:

The role includes flexible admin hours (which can be worked remotely), along with the opportunity to balance work and life.

Paid Admin Time:

We offer paid admin time to help with your role's planning and administrative tasks, ensuring you have the time needed to stay organised.

Ongoing Training & Development:

Regular 1:1 meetings, access to professional development opportunities, and a culture of learning.

A Positive, Family-Oriented Culture:

Join a team where your input is valued and you're supported in your role.

How to Apply:

If you're looking for a meaningful leadership role where you can make a difference in a small, friendly team, we'd love to hear from you! Please send your CV and a brief message explaining why you'd be a great fit for this role.
