Overview





Can you provide a safe and caring environment for children using a wrap-around care facility in school? We are looking for a passionate member of staff to join our enthusiastic team.





Stoke Mandeville Combined School seek an organised, friendly and engaging Playworker to join their popular after school club (ASC). If you are looking for a new challenge, have experience of working with children and liaising with parents we would love to hear from you.

About the role





To support the After School Club providing a safe and caring environment in line with relevant statutory guidance, where children aged 4-11 years of age can enjoy a range of play, learning and leisure activities.



To be self-motivated and organise a daily routine and activity plan that meets the emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs of the children, using observations and their requirements.



To build links and work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to promote the wellbeing of the children.

About you





Essential

Working with children and young people Experience of undertaking administrative processes. Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentiality Understand the range of needs which children and their families may have Understand the key issues relating to quality play provision Ability to provide and facilitate an inclusive, safe and creative play environment Communicate effectively with a wide range of groups and individuals To lead a small team of staff and work as an integral part of that team To be able to plan effectively and respond to unplanned circumstances using initiative, sound judgement and common sense Carry out all responsibilities within an equal opportunities framework Ability to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to work Ability to remain calm under pressure Willingness to learn new skills To work as part of a team


Desirable

Experience of using basic technology Paediatric First Aid Certificate Basic food hygiene certificate Experience of effective supervision or management of staff in a primary or childcare/pre-school setting Working knowledge of relevant national regulations and guidance
