Becoming the Energy Future System Operator is a critical step to help deliver a reliable and clean energy transition for all. The ESO, including all of its existing roles, will be at the heart of the new Future System Operator, taking on additional roles with a whole energy system mindset to drive progress towards net zero while maintaining energy security and minimising costs for consumers.

The new organisation will be set up as a public corporation with operational independence from government - bringing parties together to support optimised decision making and action. As now, it will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements. It is anticipated that the new organisation will be up and running by or in 2024.

Job Purpose

The Ways of working team is accountable for shifting the ESO towards Agile DevSecOps ways of working. Reporting directly to the Head of Ways of working & Capability, the Agile DevSecOps Transformation Senior Manager will form part of the Ways of working Leadership team within DD&T (Digital, Data and Technology). The key objective of this role is to achieve Agile DevSecOps transformation at technical delivery and governance level for digital programs.

We are looking for Agile DevSecOps Transformation Senior Manager who has deep experience of leading, driving and executing DevSecOps Transformation program at organization level. The role entails transforming current program delivery to Agile DevSecOps with customer centricity and product mindset. The purpose of this role is to increase organizational efficiency through technology integrations, DevOps implementations, cloud platform and automations, allowing teams to focus on program delivery, faster time to market, improved software quality, increased collaboration, and reduced operational costs.

We\'re looking for someone, who is excited to move fast, innovate and challenge assumptions. Someone who approaches problems with curiosity for a best practice solution, leveraging market best practice views for standardization.

This role will require to lead teams by influencing, assist and drive communication in collaboration with communication lead to drive constant capability development and unite people across the organization to keep them moving forward. This role will closely collaborate with teams across Ways of working team and wider DDT and ESO teams to align roadmap, define and execute the change.

This role is based in Wokingham and offers hybrid working.

Key Accountabilities

  • This role will define and deliver strategic roadmap to achieve the delivery transformation to Agile DevSecOps at an engineering and governance level.
  • define and deliver program of works to deliver the roadmap through constant prioritization by reviewing financial and business value delivered.
  • Build and manage a team of employee, contractors and 3rd party that will have specialist skill set to execute the change. Maintain and develop a learning and cross-fertilization mindset within the team and across the organization.
  • Drive communication at all levels to raise awareness of the transformation, what does that mean for the teams across the organization.
  • Define, track and communicate KPIs to measure the success of the program and adopt an iterative approach based on the feedback received.
  • Define and govern Engineering framework, standards, processes, and assurance that will be used across the program delivery teams throughout the organization.
  • Partner with other teams e.g. DevOps (Tooling), Capability development, Cyber security, architecture etc in defining best practices and policies for modern engineering standards.
Knowledge and Technical Know How
  • Proven experience with delivering Agile DevSecOps transformation program at a strategic level and program and technical delivery level.
  • Proven experience in working with Developers, Quality engineers, DevOps, and Engineering teams in a dynamic environment to promote/implement DevSecOps throughout the organization.
  • Ability to drive change at all levels in the organization through influencing and without direct authority and control over delivery teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of Cloud Platforms like OCI, AWS, Azure etc.
  • Expert in Microservices Architecture which make applications easier to scale and faster to develop, enabling innovation and accelerating time-to-market for new features.
  • Proficiency with scripting (shell, bash, PowerShell, Javascript, Python) and automation of tools. Expert with Docker & Kubernetes, including managed platforms.
  • Proven experience in Technical Leadership in delivering innovative solutions able to collaborate with business leaders in building and running sustainable production systems, which can evolve and adapt to changes in a global business environment.
  • Energy, focus, assertiveness, and diplomacy: Knowing when to push an agenda and when to let a situation develop, rest, or advance.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and collaborate as a team to solve complex problems in support of the team\'s mission.
  • Hands-on experience in DevOps frameworks using tools like GitHub, Azure Devops etc. and infrastructure as code such us Terraform
Qualifications
  • Experience in working with senior level leadership team as a trusted advisor.
  • Experience of planning, developing, and implementing organization wide strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to engage and influence people at all levels including strategic partners within the organization
  • Ability to manage constantly and competing priorities and absorbing new information rapidly to address complex issues.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management.
  • Versatile abilities and leadership style with dedication to drive efficiency and productivity

What You\'ll Get

A competitive salary ranging from \xc2\xa390,000 - \xc2\xa3100,000 - dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
