Job Description


ADAS, part of RSK Group, is seeking an Agriculture, Farm Infrastructure & Engineering Consultant on a permanent, full time basis. This role will be a blend of home and office working and is open across the North of England, the Midlands and South East England.

You will work with farmers to optimise their operational and environmental performance, advising on all aspects of farming. Providing advice and one to one consultancy to farmers and the wider industry throughout the UK, finding cost-effective, practical solutions to on-farm environmental problems.

The key to achieving a sustainable farming business is managing the fundamental resources of soil, water and nutrients to maximise efficient production whilst undertaking measures to protect the environment and biodiversity for the future. We require all our staff to have a broad understanding of these areas, in addition to technical knowledge of farm buildings & infrastructure, agricultural engineering together with livestock and arable production, farm business management and policy and economics relevant to their role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical infrastructure and environmental, business-focussed consultancy
  • Working for individual farmers and corporate clients delivering contracts funded by the public sector, working in project teams with senior consultants and national specialists, developing and delivering a portfolio of private client work
  • Assess and design farm infrastructure including silage clamps, slurry and organic manure storage, livestock buildings & grain stores, sprayer filling areas & pesticide stores, and constructed wetlands
  • Advise farmers and other clients on resource protection, regulatory compliance and reduction of diffuse pollution
  • Analyse problems and provide independent and cost-effective solutions to clients, and technically correct, legally compliant advice
  • Apply skills and expertise in a range of consultancy services including technical infrastructure, resource protection, nutrient, soil & water management underpinned by an understanding of relevant legislation, arable and livestock systems
  • Contribute to business development, promoting ADAS and developing contacts with new and existing clients through meetings and events
Person Specification
  • Competent user of Microsoft software including Windows, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Understanding of the application of GIS mapping, and CAD software in delivery of consultancy projects would be an advantage
  • Understand and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner in English
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport
  • Ability to travel away from home base when required
  • Flexibility in the range of work undertaken
