Job Title: Safety Engineering Consultant

Day rate: \xc2\xa3600 - \xc2\xa3650 a day

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will provide Safety Engineering consultancy services for our customers (external and internal) and contribute to my client\'s further development and growth.

The role will involve UK travel (and some overseas travel) to support my client\'s customers onsite, developing and implementing through life support strategies on complex programmes.

The holder is responsible for the management and delivery of Safety Engineering project/task outputs, as directed by the Safety Team Leader.

The holder will assist the Capability Manager with the management and development of Safety Compliance capability, in order to meet the business\'s targets and objectives.

Responsibilities:

Manage Safety Engineering Support programmes to ensure requirements are delivered on time, to budget, and to the required quality;

On time and to budget delivery of Safety Engineering project/task outputs as required in the project Statement of Requirement;

Safety Artefact production across the full range of Safety Management System (SMS) documentation for maritime systems and platforms;

Support to bids, proposals, analysis and report writing;

Provide reports on productivity and other performance indicators to the Project Manager for project specific tasks;

Assist the Capability Manager with developing new capability in order to meet new and emerging market demands;

Develop innovation initiatives to support future growth.

Qualifications:

Technical qualification in an engineering discipline;

Professional Registration at IEng or higher is desirable;

Formal training in the management of Safety Engineering for UK Defence programmes highly desirable;

SC cleared.

Knowledge & Experience:

Good working knowledge of Defence Standards (in particular Def Stan 00-051 and 00-056);

Good working knowledge of DSA02-DMR and other DSA publications on Health, Safety and Environmental Protection as appropriate to role;

Working knowledge of ASEMS, POSMS and POEMS processes

Technical and safety management experience in the martime domain;

Experience in successfully delivering safety engineering projects and/or processes;

Experience in hazard analysis, risk management and reduction;

Project Management experience;

Experience working with Maritime Regulatory organisations is desirable.

Ability to engage with existing and potential customers, building trust and confidence;

Successful in establishing strong and effective working relationships with customers and colleagues;

Effective time manager with good communication and listening skills, with a flexible and positive approach to work;

Excellent report writing skills and high standards of quality; able to apply a logical and tailored approach to meet client needs.
