BT is seeking an Infrastructure Engineering Specialist to join our Secure Development SRE Team. You will manage the implementation, operations and support, of one or more IT infrastructure management tools, centering on but not restricted to Vulnerability and Compliance Reporting Tools used by BT.

We are a self-contained SRE team responsible for implementing, running and supporting a diverse range of tools which support the management of our core IT infrastructure. This includes tools which manage network and IT security, Physical Security and compliance, automated software delivery and software discovery; as well as several other IT estate management functions.
This is built on an ethos of continuous improvement; empowering the whole team to be actively engaged in improving our processes and our performance.

What you\'ll be doing

  • Leads the maintenance of IT Infrastructure components, tools or locations and executes the designs on services (e.g., network, security, storage, compute), which are to be produced in line with design standards.
  • Provides advanced technical knowledge and expertise where needed to support managers, principals or technical experts to resolve complex issues.
  • Leads the day-to-day support for internal tools and system health, as well as infrastructure implemented for all projects and managing customer support contracts.
  • Writes documentation and builds tooling that makes the infrastructure easier to use and manage.
  • Drives the documentation of the processes, measurements, and assessments required for both individual work and projects.
  • Leads the activities and collaborates with team members in the installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and optimisation for all network and infrastructure hardware, software and communication links.
  • Audits and reports on the performance and the overall health of the network and infrastructure and recommends or initiates corrective action or enhancements.
  • Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in infrastructure engineering best practices and industry standards.
  • Mentors other infrastructure engineers, helping to improve the team\'s abilities by acting as a technical resource

  • Communication and stakeholders management: Strong experience of communicating complex detail to technical and non-technical audiences and develop good relationship with customers, vendors and cross functional teams
  • Technical Expertise:Broad technical experience across a range of IT infrastructure disciplines (eg, networks, datacentre infrastructure, operating systems etc)
  • Troubleshooting: Applies problem solving methods to repair failed products or processes.
  • Incident Management: Ensures that any incidents affecting processes and performances of relevant technology services or systems are managed appropriately to mitigate risk and minimise disruption.
  • Design: Implementation design of technical components in response to evolving business requirements.
