Reporting into our Lead Airfield infrastructure Technician & Airfield Infrastructure Duty Manager we're looking for an experienced electrical engineer to join us on a nightshift basis to provide maintenance and technical resource to manager and maintain safe and efficient airfield systems.

There are some important things to know before you apply. The role is nightshift based, meaning you'll work Four 12-hour night shifts, on a four on four off basis. Bristol Airport is a 24-7-365 operation, so at times you may work weekends & bank holidays if your shifts fall on these days. Please be mindful of this before submitting your application.

ROLE PURPOSE



To provide Bristol Airport with a nightshift-based engineering, maintenance and technical resource to manage and maintain safe and efficient airfield systems including Airfield lighting, apron lighting, fixed electrical ground power and airfield safety systems. Ensuring regulatory compliance at all times. Proactively maintaining airport systems, services and assets to the highest standards.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



To develop a comprehensive understanding of the airport Airfield ground lighting (AGL) system, Apron lighting & fixed electrical ground power functions and assets through a process of continuous development, assessment, training, and development. To undertake all reactive maintenance duties responding to system and equipment failures in a timely manner to sustain the Airports services. To undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) according to the routine maintenance plan. Providing feedback on equipment condition, updating, and completing records. To plan and complete inspections, maintenance and fault-finding activities on the Airfield Ground Lighting and associated systems, and other airfield installations as required to ensure regulatory compliance. Co-coordinating, supervision and escorting of Contractors and Service Engineers as required in accordance with relevant Bristol Airport H&S policy. To review, inspect and check work carried out by subcontractors, report any compliance / quality issues and oversee remedial works. Follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements for BRS Engineering activities. Ensure that engineering spares are ordered through BRS purchasing procedures and spares are available to maintain equipment reliability and reduce down-time following failures. Maintain and keep detailed records of maintenance problems and activities. Following detailed and thorough investigation advise the Lead airfield infrastructure technician or Engineering Duty Manager of any maintenance problems which might affect the running of the Airport and ensure the Engineering Team is fully briefed at all times regarding day-to-day issues and problems. To refuel critical generators and carry out maintenance to critical AGL systems. Refuel critical generators and carry out maintenance to critical AGL systems. Provide guidance and support for Development teams on projects as required. Manage own compliance of Health & Safety within the workplace and wider site environment. Provide updates and reports on any equipment or system failures. Changes priorities and switches between tasks without losing sight of deadlines and keeps operational managers aware of situations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Essential skills



Suitably qualified in Electrical Engineering (C&G, NVQ or equivalent ). Good communication skills with ability to build effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders Good planning and time management, with the ability to juggle multiple challenges and prioritise appropriately Awareness of the need for efficient working practice and cost control. An attention to detail and a drive for continuous improvement. Excellent IT skills, proven use of the MS Office suite of programs and ability to understand and utilise Engineering IT systems. Learns from errors, putting into place systems to prevent them from reoccurring. Good command of written and spoken English. Ability to complete projects started in a safe manner. Punctual and reliable and manages workload effectively. Accepts constructive feedback and adapts accordingly. Takes responsibility for delivering own work without unnecessary supervision.

Desirable Skills



Experience working with a range of electrical installations including HV, LV and AGL. Worked in a similar highly regulated engineering / maintenance role operating on a 24/7 basis. Working in varied conditions including outdoors with varying Weather HNC / ONC, or other recognised qualifications, in Electrical Engineering. A minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience. Previous experience of working within the aviation industry, particularly the Airfield ground lighting systems would be an advantage.
