Alliance Disclosure Officer - Temp - Plymouth

Devon and Cornwall Police is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Alliance Disclosure Officer based in Plymouth.

As an Alliance Disclosure Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting transparency and fairness within the criminal justice process. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing the disclosure process in criminal cases, ensuring that all relevant evidence is properly identified, recorded, and disclosed to the appropriate parties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess case materials to determine sensitive or disclosable information and manage the disclosure process to ensure all relevant evidence is disclosed in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Legal Compliance: Stay up to date with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures regarding disclosure, ensuring all activities align with legal requirements and guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with police officers, legal teams, and external agencies to gather and assess evidence, identify disclosure obligations, and facilitate the exchange of information.
  • Training and Guidance: Provide guidance and training to staff involved in the disclosure process to ensure understanding and adherence to disclosure principles.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits to assess the quality and accuracy of disclosure activities, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
To Be Successful:
  • Understanding of the principles around disclosure.
  • Awareness of data protection act.
  • Proven ability to undertake effective research.
  • Good decision making.
  • Understanding of risk management.
  • Demonstratable ability to draft well structured letters and reports outlining justification for a decision.
  • Proven ability of skills in MS Office and manipulating databases.
