The International Fraud Risk Management organization manages the policies, procedures and systems to control fraudulent use of American Express products and services across Europe Middle East and Africa. FRM helps enable profitable business growth by reducing the risk of fraud and maintaining our customer\xe2\x80\x99s confidence in the security of our products.

We use both process controls and statistical tools to detect fraud and minimize the disruption of good spending. FRM is also accountable for building the infrastructure to manage the emerging risks associated with e-commerce and internet services.

The role will be based in Brighton or London and entails to support management of EMEA issuer ID theft and customer authentication fraud risk strategy with aim to maximise legitimate spend and driving reduction in fraud losses as well as working with external vendors and internal stakeholders on the enablement of enhancements and incremental customer identification capabilities.

The position will require a close collaboration with FRM Decision Science and Strategy teams on development and implementation of strategies aimed to improve fraud controls in ID Theft area, both in the onboarding and post-onboarding stage. It will also entail working with FRM central product teams, Consumer and Corporate business lines as well as Legal, Compliance, Technology, and other cross functional teams to enable and manage rollout of new capabilities and strategies aimed at securing growth of the portfolio in the region while ensuring appropriate fraud risk controls are in place.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Support management of EMEA issuer fraud risk strategy for ID theft. Closely monitor portfolio MIS, perform analyses and conduct regular fraud case reviews to identify vulnerabilities and opportunity for incremental controls & POS model enhancements and more effective risk strategies.
  • Partner with central FRM team on deployment of strategies focused on reduction of Account Takeover, Card Not Received and Fraudulent Application fraud losses and provide input towards model enhancements.
  • Collaborate Global Security teams to share identified fraud trends and provide input and analysis required by law enforcement agencies.
  • Support management of Customer Authentication strategy and policy in place across all servicing teams and support deployment of enhancements and new solutions with aim to improve customer experience.
  • Project management support for strategic initiatives related to ID theft management such as Voice ID or implementation of new vendor based capabilities.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance MIS for new ID theft capabilities and solutions and to report on the performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain the relationships with external vendors who provide fraud risk solutions and support implementation of enhancements and new fraud risk capabilities and controls, using incremental data points available, through close collaboration with FRM Decision Science and central FRM team.
  • Partner with other functional areas and Lines of Business to respond to any new/incremental regulatory needs impacting ID Theft area and provide fraud risk consultancy/assessment.
  • Support consultancy required for AEMP54 initiatives which touch on Customer ID/ID theft strategies or solutions
  • Partner with FRM counterparts in other regions, utilise internal cross region best practices and industry knowledge to incorporate feedback to drive continuous fraud prevention.
  • Build the capability and culture to react quickly to avoid financial surprises
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and analytical skills are crucial.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to convey fraud insights and thoughtful leadership in managing fraud business strategies.
  • Proven track record of working proactively and independently to drive results
  • Ability to analyse structured and unstructured data and translate data into quantifiably and meaningful solutions. Demonstrated ability to deliver data driven recommendations.
  • Project management experience with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and proven flawless execution.
  • Exceptional ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Excellent relationship management skills \xe2\x80\x93 demonstrated the ability to forge and sustain complex business relationships across American Express teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and changing priorities and to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high pressure situation, handling several priority assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience required and SAS and/or SQL experience is required.
  • Self starter with the ability to make sound risk-based decisions based on data independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in Fraud and fraud analytics is required.
  • University degree or equivalent required
