The Animal Care Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and health of animals in our care. This position involves providing daily care, support, and companionship to a variety of animals while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
The position of Animal Care Assistant involves delivering routine care and welfare to the animals at Farm Club, inclusive of pets, small animals and farm animals. The Animal Care Assistant will complete a daily and weekly checklist for animal care and welfare. Any concerns regarding animal safety or welfare must be reported to the Site Manager immediately.
Duties
Week day routine
Evening - arrival between 5pm - 7pm, Monday to Friday
All animals will have been put away for the evening by the Session Supervisor and staff team during the winter months
In the summer months, put animals away for the evening
Conduct a welfare check on all animals
Ensure all animals have fresh water
Put animals away and secure their enclosures where necessary
If hay or bedding levels are low, restock accordingly
School holiday routine
Morning - arrival between 7am and 9am
Feed all animals - give hay and dry food
Refill all animal waters
Check the incubator
Clean the outside rabbit enclosures
Spot clean in inside animal cages removing soiled bedding
Collect eggs
Let chickens, ducks and goats out
Water the plants (when it is not raining)
Evening - arrival between 4pm - 8pm, Monday to Friday
Conduct a welfare check on all animals
Ensure all animals have fresh water
Put animals away and secure their enclosures where necessary
If hay or bedding levels are low, restock accordingly

Monday - Friday PM: 30 - 60 minutes each day
School holidays:
Monday - Friday AM: 30 - 60 minutes each day
Monday - Friday PM: 30 - 60 minutes each day
Weekends:
Farm Club has an animal care assistant on the weekends, but ad hoc hours may be required to cover absence.
Skills
To have relevant experience in looking after animals.
A genuine passion for animal care, demonstrating empathy and patience towards all creatures.
