Animal Care Assistant
to support the wellbeing of animals in our hospital and drive our animal ambulance for patient transfers and client deliveries.
A Full Clean Driving Licence (UK manual) Is Essential
You will play a key role in transporting animals safely and compassionately between our branches and their homes. This is a crucial part of the job and requires confidence behind the wheel and a strong sense of responsibility.
What You'll Be Doing:
Feeding, cleaning, and caring for animals in our hospital
Assisting nurses and vets with handling and restraining patients
Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe environment
Assisting with laundry, stocking supplies, and general upkeep
Transferring patients, medications or equipment in the practice ambulance on a daily basis
Setting up the consult rooms in the morning ready for vet and nurse consults to begin
Morning x-ray set up and clearing x-ray plates
Cleaning, packing and sterilizing surgical instruments, kits and gowns
Checking and recording O2 canister levels - reordering if required
Assisting nurses and vets restraining patients
Cleaning out kennels and ensuring highest standards of cleanliness in wards
Ensuring wards and consult room consumables are fully stocked on a daily basis
Checking laundry and putting washing/tumble drying on and putting away
Cleaning, setting up and rotating theatre ready for operations
General cleaning around the practice alongside the wider team
Assisting on reception when busy/short staffed
Helping the nurses to recover anaesthetized patients post operatively
Who We're Looking For:
You hold a full, clean UK driving licence (manual essential)
You have a genuine love of animals and a willingness to learn
You are responsible, calm under pressure, and great with people
You are comfortable with manual handling and cleaning duties
You are reliable, punctual, and a team player
You have previous experience working in an animal care setting
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to 12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 41.25 per week
