What you'll be doing



The animal team form part of the Camel Creek family adventure park and are a prominent part of making the park a recognisable attraction in the southwest. There are currently a wide range of animals on-site including, crocodiles, snakes and lizards, meerkats, leopard cats, shire horses, owls, parrots and finches. Each member of the team is responsible for the management and welfare of all animal residents, although we do have our favourites.

The animal team manage a range of animals and provide daily summer handling sessions. The team are dedicated and enthusiastic; they not only care and provide for the various animals within the park but share their passion and enthusiasm with visitors who want to understand more about them

The role holder will report to the Animal Manager and care and promote the welfare of all animals residing or visiting Camel Creek Adventure Park.

The role-holder will work as part of a small team and will need excellent intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, be reliable and enthusiastic, be a strong team player, be responsible for animal nutrition, health and habitat maintenance and environmental enrichment.

Responsibilities:



Animal Care & Welfare: -

ensure all animals receive proper nutrition; prepare and deliver species-appropriate diets,

observe animals daily for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to Animal Manager and/or veterinary staff.

administer medications and assist veterinarians during health assessments and treatments.

Habitat Maintenance: -

maintain clean and safe enclosures by performing regular cleaning and disinfecting routines.

develop and implement enrichment activities to promote natural behaviours and mental stimulation.

monitor and maintain enclosure conditions, including temperature, humidity, and structural integrity. Participating in small repairs and upkeep of habitats will be expected as part of the role holders responsibilities

Record Keeping & Reporting: -

utilise software systems like ZIMS for accurate and up-to-date animal records, including behaviour, feeding, health, and breeding activities.

Public Engagement & Education: -

conduct educational talks, demonstrations, and tours to inform the public about the animals and conservation efforts.

participate in off-site educational programs and events to promote wildlife conservation.

support junior staff, apprentices, volunteers, and interns in daily tasks and animal care procedures.

work closely with veterinary, maintenance, and administrative teams to ensure cohesive operations.
