Job Description

MCS Group is currently working alongside a global software company to recruit an Application Support Engineer on a fixed term contract basis. Working remotely from Scotland, this Application Support Engineer will work with the wider Application Support Team and assist customers with their technical queries and issues.

Core Responsibilities:

• Utilise software engineering skills to support company product.
• Manage support ticket queue, ensuring that tickets are frequently updated.
• Liaise with customers and 3rd party suppliers to ensure smooth resolution of issues.
• Carry out testing of the solution and create supporting documentation.
• Participate in P1/2 incidents to deliver speedy service restoration for customers.
• Development of high-quality fixes/code within agreed timescales.
• Prioritise work effectively to ensure that priorities are met
• Manage support ticket queue, ensuring that each ticket\'s case status is up to date.
• Run security audits on customer environments.

Essential Criteria:

• You will have previous experience of software development within a team.
• You will have a degree or post graduate qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related discipline (or equivalent)
• This role requires at least 1 year of experience of using SQL and relational database technologies e.g. SQL Server, Oracle
• Additionally, you will have at least 1 year of experience in Object Oriented design and programming
• Ideally, you will have a working knowledge of Java and some of the following: HTML, JavaScript, XML, XSL/XSLT, Ant, CSS, JQuery, JSP, Ajax

Salary: Competitive
Location: Scotland (remote work with occasional visit to office in Glasgow)
Duration: Fixed Term Contract (circa 1 year maternity cover)
