Job Description

Devon Bricklaying is offering a great opportunity for a motivated and hard-working individual to join the team as a bricklaying apprentice. You must hold a valid CSCS card

As an apprentice, you'll be learning directly from skilled tradesmen on real jobs across Devon, gaining the knowledge and experience to build a proper career in the trade.


During the apprenticeship, you'll learn how to lay bricks and blocks to a high standard, mix and use mortar, measure and set out accurately, cut and point brickwork, and read plans and building specifications.


Your duties will include assisting with setting out and measuring, mixing mortar, loading out materials, and laying bricks and blocks under supervision. You'll help with cutting and pointing brickwork, preparing work areas, and keeping the site clean and organised. You'll also assist with installing lintels and padstones, learn how to read and follow building plans, and support the team with general masonry and structural tasks. Safe use of hand tools and equipment will be part of your daily responsibilities, along with maintaining a professional attitude on site.



Hours: 40.00 per week

Devon Bricklaying Ltd, is a small family run business, based in Exeter. We are committed to completing projects to the highest standards, with bricklaying as our main trade. I am the director of the company but also a very experienced bricklayer, having started my career as an Apprentice at Exeter College almost 20 years ago.




Requirements and Prospects:



Basic maths skills Good understanding of practical tasks Follow instructions accurately






Reliable, Willing to learn Physically fit Good team player Any hands-on or construction-related experience is a bonus






Potential for full-time employment after apprenticeship if applicable.



Training Provided:


You will attend Exeter College one week per month to work towards your Bricklaying Level 2 Apprenticeship.
