Description



Premier Fire Security Ltd are looking for their next fire and security engineer apprentice! The successful applicant will be supporting existing engineers, whilst attending college and learning more about the industry. This is an exciting opportunity to get started with a career in a dynamic industry.



This apprenitceship offers hands-on experience within the fire and security industry, supported by hands-on training from experienced engineers.



The successful candidate will gain practical skills working with a variety of systems, including:

Door entry + exit systems Access control Intruder alarms CCTV Fire alarm system installation, maintainence and servicing Maintainence and servicing of above systems

By the end of your apprenticeship, you'll be a fully qualified multi disciplined engineer with the confidence and experience to work independently in a trusted, professional fire and security company.



Entry requirements

Desired skills/experience:

A full, clean UK driving license would be advantageous, but not essential for the right candidate (as long as you can get to work sites by the required 8am start time) Live within a commutable distance to post code SO51 7JF Able to pass an enhanced DBS background check Minimum Grade 4 (C) in Maths and English (or equivalent) Some practical or technical experience (for example, basic electrical knowledge or interest in engineering) is an advantage but not essential Enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills. A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team Reliable, with excellent attention to detail Capable of using logical thinking to solve problems Committed to completing their apprenticeship and developing a long-term career in the fire and security industry

Training to be provided



Skills for Security will deliver the apprenticeship training in block release at their Watford training centre. You will attend centre one week every 4 weeks as part of "the Evolve Academy".



Fire Emergency Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.



You will be required to complete all training tasks allocated during your block release weeks at the training centre and gather any site evidence needed to supplement your studies.



You will be required to complete an annual assessment at the training centre and take part in any additional training courses that the company require you to complete.



The employer will mentor and coach you on the job. You will also shadow, learn and get involved in all aspects of Security alarms.

On the job training:

Working within a structured 1.5-year apprenticeship program, you will attend college on block release where you will be taught the required regulatory knowledge, design principles and technical skills to work comfortably on some of the most complex and advanced systems within the industry.



To compliment your college learning you will be exposed to and trained in a variety of different roles from containment and cabling installation, 2nd fix installation and commissioning, fault finding and rectification, routine servicing, and planned maintenance.



On the job training from Premiere Fire Security will also be given by various engineers who will act as a mentor.



Things to consider



The apprenticeship is at least 18 months, so full commitment to your studies is required throughout the years of the apprenticeship.

Once the successful candidate has completed their apprenticeship, there are various career pathways within the business that they can enter. The maintenance (both preventative and reactive) areas of work can be available, as well as projects and small works.

There are then further areas all employees have, which could span from project engineer, commissioning and management.
