Job Summary



We require the applicant to hold a level 3 animal care qualification or at least 10years experience reef keeping.
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Aquarist particularly a reefer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the care and management of marine aquatic animals and their habitats, ensuring optimal health and environmental conditions. This role requires a strong background in biological sciences, particularly in areas related to aquaculture and aquatic ecosystems.

Duties



Maintain and monitor water quality parameters, including pH, salinity, and temperature, to ensure a healthy environment for aquatic life. Conduct regular health assessments of aquatic species, identifying any signs of disease or distress. Implement feeding protocols tailored to the dietary needs of various species. Assist in the design and maintenance of aquariums and other aquatic habitats. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of tanks, filtration systems, and associated equipment. Document observations and data related to animal behaviour, health status, and environmental conditions for scientific research purposes. Collaborate with other team members on projects related to conservation, breeding programmes, or educational initiatives.

Skills



Strong knowledge of biochemistry as it relates to aquatic environments. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R for data analysis and management. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in laboratory settings. Experience coral pests and fish diseases for examining aquatic organisms or samples. Solid understanding of laboratory protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure safe handling of specimens. Excellent observational skills for scientific research and monitoring animal health. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: Up to 26,520.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
