About the role:





We are looking for an

Arborist on a permanent basis

to join our Environmental Services team in the Lancashire area. This role requires mobile working predominately based in our Neighbourhoods and you will attend the office as and when required.



The purpose of the role is to undertake a wide range of high quality, practical arboriculture and landscape maintenance operations including aerial tree works to the highest standards of safety and quality, whilst providing excellent customer service.



You will provide expert care and management of trees and other woody plants, with a focus on preserving them whenever possible. This involves diagnosing and treating tree problems, assessing tree health and safety, and recommending appropriate actions to improve tree well-being and reduce risks. Arborists also play a role in tree planting, removal, and understanding the impact of trees on the environment, both positively and negatively.


Key Responsibilities:




Customer Service -

Deal with front facing customer enquiries on site including complaints, requests for service and dangerous trees. Undertake a wide range of arboricultural operations using associated machinery and equipment as instructed by the Senior Arborist. Assist in conducting a comprehensive range of flexible, emergency tree works, and land scheduled tree maintenance, under the direction of the Senior Arborist and Arboriculture Manager.

Data Management -

Update the digital system with basic data as required ensuring all data is accurate and reflective of works undertaken. Undertake basic assessment surveys and deliver appropriate reports for tree works.

Performance Measurement -

Ensure that all work reporting and recording procedures are followed. Complete all works to the relevant quality standards and in line with team key performance indicators (KPI's).

Developing the Service -

Delivering works to the Arboriculture Association approved contractor standards, taking part in relevant assessments and working towards a best in class operational service. Keep up to date with regards to Industry best practice, equipment and techniques.

Health and safety -

Comply with Health and safety standards in all areas of operations whilst on site. Reporting any defects in the first instance to ensure safety of yourself and others and a timely resolution.

Skills & Experience Required:




Experience of working in an arboricultural team using chainsaws and brushwood chippers and being a competent climber. Demonstrable experience of delivering high levels of customer service. Examples of successfully delivering high standards of arboricultural works to BS: 3998. Excellent working knowledge of all relevant safety procedures including risk assessments and safe systems of work. Ability to accurately identify tree species and diagnose basic ill health and structural defects

Essential Qualifications:




A full UK Driving Licence Experience in Arboriculture with NPTC/Lantra accreditation

Additional training will be provided for any missing/lapsed elements of the accreditation where experience can be demonstrated.


Desirable Qualifications:




Windblown trees qualification. PASMA/MEWP training. Level 3 or above qualification in Arboriculture or similar
