Job summary




The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Job description




As a Project Officer, you will support the project team in leading and managing the project and the project team on a day-to-day basis. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in driving and overseeing the delivery of the project to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost, and quality constraints. You will play a key role in project governance and work with stakeholders to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.

Responsibilities:



Delivery: Assist in creating and leading the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality constraints. Project Management: Support the day-to-day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Help set project controls and design the project structure appropriate to the stage. Business Case: Coordinate the development of the Business Case. Budget: Track delivery within budget. Resources: Schedule and manage resources to deliver the project. May work independently or with a small team. Benefits Realisation: Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked, and owned. Monitor the longer-term delivery of benefits against the Business Case. Stakeholder Management: Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships. Risks & Issues: Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Governance: Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision-making. Assurance: Support or set appropriate project assurance. Change Management: Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders. Guidance & Support: Seek appropriate support, guidance, and coaching from the project community. Show commitment to personal development and promote effective individual and team performance. Project Performance & Controls: Build the Project Plan and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objectives. Track and report delivery against milestones. ###

Person specification



Essential skills and experience:



Experience in Project Delivery projects or departments Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and provide advise on project management Experience is coordinating the development of business cases, managing risks and issues Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and identify potential project risks and issues. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively

Desirable criteria:



While specific qualifications and experience in military contexts are not required, equivalent industry experience in digital transformation, project management, or related fields is desirable. Familiarity with government procurement projects, infrastructure, business change, or IT projects is advantageous. ###

The post does not offer relocation expenses.

Selection process details




This vacancy is using Success Profiles , and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.
At application you will be assessed against the following:

500 statement of suitability outlining why you feel you're suitable for the role and how you can demonstrate the essential criteria within the advert 2 behaviours: Making Effective Decisions (250 words) and Communicating and Influencing (250 words)
