The post holder will carry out the role of a professional Art and DT Teacher, actively engaging the children in the home to help them reach their potential. This post reports to the Head of Learning. We require someone with excellent Art and DT curriculum knowledge who can provide effective teaching, learning and assessment skills whilst demonstrating a passion for supporting the young people at Lansdowne to achieve. The successful candidate will be confident teaching vulnerable children with high-risk equipment in a well-equipped DT room.
The role requires teaching small groups of highly complex young people who are deprived of their liberty. It will be require working closely with the Care and Health teams with the priority always being the young person's well-being.
Key tasks will include:
Identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed;
setting tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest;
setting appropriate and demanding expectations;
setting clear targets, building on prior attainment and identifying gaps in learning;
