Founded in 2015 by Lara Fiorentino and Gregory Key, BSMT is an Urban Contemporary gallery located in East London's Dalston.
Our exhibition and publishing programme is dedicated to championing a diverse selection of established and emerging artists. We work directly with artists producing solo and group shows, we publish our own print editions and have a framing studio on site.
ABOUT THE ROLE
BSMT seeks a Gallery Assistant to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone energetic, with a passion for the arts and a willingness to grow within their position, as well as someone who is comfortable working with the public and behind the scenes in an administrative capacity.
You should be personable and professional, comfortable working within a small team but equally comfortable interacting with guests on opening nights, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills as well as good written communication, be highly organised and be able to prioritise and work through tasks quickly and unsupervised. Photography and retouching skills are essential for this role. Taking initiative and thinking proactively is key.

ABOUT YOU
Essential Qualities we're looking for:
Excellent customer service skills in-person and via email
At least 1 year of experience in a client facing role
A passion for and knowledge of Urban and Contemporary art
Photography skills-
Photographing artwork for catalogues and
retouching
along with taking pictures at gallery private views.
Strong organisational and administrative skills including experience working with Google Drive (sheets, docs) and Dropbox
Knowledge and experience working with WIX
Proficiency in the Adobe creative suite (Photoshop and Indesign) essential
Knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
A proactive self-starter who is organised, practical and reliable.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and gallery schedules

Knowledge of and experience working at art fairs.
Experience with art database systems (Artsy, Wix)
Curatorial/installation experience.
Experience handling printed materials and art packing. Knowledge of art framing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
CLIENT FACING
Welcoming clients and customers into the gallery at opening nights and on weekends, answering enquiries and providing information about the artworks.
Answering client emails and assisting with enquiries.
Taking customer orders for purchase of artworks and framing.
Creating content within the gallery for Socials
Making and processing sales at the galleryADMINISTRATIVE/GALLERY TASKS
Updating inventory using in-house systems (Wix, Artsy , Google Sheets).
Photographing new artworks and uploading these products onto our sales platforms.
Liaising with guests for upcoming shows and creating guest lists
Liaising with artists in the lead up to an exhibition and collating and organising promotional materials Occasionally packing, shipping orders and organising deliveries.
Daily operations of the gallery, ensuring that it operates smoothly and efficiently
