Desmet?RoseDowns, based in Hull, is a long established engineering firm and a global leader in the design and manufacture of screw presses for oilseed processing and rendering applications. Founded in 1777, RoseDowns has supplied over 3,500 presses to more than 100 countries and continues to innovate as part of the Desmet Group. The Hull site employs around 100 people and provides high quality spare parts, screening tanks, technical support, and maintenance services to the vegetable oil and rendering industries.

Job Purpose



To assemble and fit structural components for the Company's leading products in accordance with established manufacturing procedures. This role involves ensuring precise fitting of all parts, repairing and servicing machinery when required, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities



Assemble and fit components following engineering drawings and specifications. Perform machining operations such as drilling, reaming, countersinking, counterboring, tapping, and spot facing using a radial arm drill. Manipulate products in jigs and fixtures to ensure accurate assembly. Conduct quality checks to verify compliance with specifications and customer requirements. Carry out painting of finished products using an airless sprayer. Undertake repairs and servicing of machinery as needed. Visit customer sites to perform assembly or repair work, including occasional overseas travel. Maintain safe working practices by adhering to all health and safety procedures and regulations. Report hazards, injuries and near misses promptly.

Health & Safety Responsibilities



Wear correct PPE at all times and ensure compliance with hygiene standards. Promote a safe working environment and follow all company safety protocols.

Skills & Experience Required



City & Guilds Parts 1, 2, and 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Proficiency in MIG/MMA welding and experience using a radial arm drill. Strong understanding of manufacturing and engineering principles. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and method statements. Relevant mechanical qualifications and proven assembly experience.

Working Hours



37 hours per week Monday - Thursday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Friday: 7:00 am - 2:30 pm

Pay



31,174.77 per year, plus an additional 2000 per year customer service allowance for travel. This pay agreement is currently under review to be increased from 1st January 2026.
