ASSESSING SOCIAL WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION



The Residential Family Centre will be providing 12-week assessments whilst providing high-quality care and support to parent/s who are 16yr plus and have children aged between 0-7yrs. You will be working under the guidance of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.

Job Role Profile



Flexible scheduled working hours, with the option to work from home when completing reports or assessments Enhance and maintain the high standards within Sarina Lodge Residential Family Centre. Ensuring that service users are treated with dignity and respect and with regard for individual needs Contribute to the service improvement plan and Ofsted compliance and impact quality assurance. Responsible for undertaking a parenting assessment within the timescales directed by the court / local authority Deliver focused, purposeful, time sensitive Residential Parental Assessments with a child centred approach Support with placement plans including; the completion of care plans, risk assessments, communicating with key professionals and completion of reports An understanding of family court proceedings, manage and monitor complex case reports and individual statements Providing educational activities and feedback to support the child's development and empower the parents to create change that is 'safe enough parenting' To provide regular specific and targeted feedback to parents regarding their parenting and progress in placement To support parents to reflect upon their parenting and enhance their ability to see the world through the eyes of their child Continue to build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including referring authorities Take responsibility for understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements including (but not exclusively) all aspects of; The Residential Family Centres Regulations (2002) amended 2013, The Care Standards Act 2000 (Establishments and Agencies) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2002, Health & Safety Act 2005 Children Act 1989, 2004 ,2022 Working Together to safeguard children 2023 Work within the organisations' policies and procedures and actively promote the equality, diversity and the rights of the people we support To model trauma informed practice with a person-centred approach Follow Safeguarding Policies and support Registered Manager to ensure all staff and beneficiaries are adhering to them.

Person Specification



Essential Knowledge & understanding



Social Work England Registered, Qualified Social worker. Sound working knowledge of Ofsted and current legislation. Excellent understanding of the principles of high-quality, person-centred care and support and non-discriminatory care practice Understanding of systems to maintain confidentiality in relation to residents, staff, beneficiaries and the organisation Knowledge of Health and Safety matters in relation to Residential Services and Risk Management Working knowledge of safeguarding protocols for children and vulnerable adults, ability to respond appropriately to any concerns Robust working knowledge of Safeguarding policies and procedures To understand the importance, equality of opportunity and diversity Ability to resolve challenges and promote effective communication Comprehensive understanding of child protection legislation and family law proceedings

Desirable Knowledge & understanding



PAMS (Parent Assessment Manual) Training, Parent Assess training completed. Understanding the impact of historical parental substance misuse / domestic abuse on a child's development Knowledge and willingness to subscribe to a trauma informed method of working Understanding of the NSPCC reunification framework.

Essential Experience



At least 2 years relevant experience in a statutory setting Previous experience of working directly with children Experience of care services, risk assessment and person-centred care and support The ability to work calmly in a challenging environment

Desirable Experience



Minimum of 5 years social work experience Experience of working with families who may have experienced trauma Experience working in an OFSTED regulated residential setting working with service users who can demonstrate challenging behaviour

Essential Qualities and Skills



Working knowledge of safeguarding procedures in relation to both adults and children Understanding of trauma informed practice Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise competing demands Resilience and resourcefulness - proven to be capable of making difficult decisions A pro-active approach to problem solving Flexibility approach to working hours, supporting a 24 hour service, over a 7 day week Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries Aware how to treat others with respect, dignity, and equality and recognise that they may have different viewpoints, beliefs or values A commitment to reflecting critically upon practice to improve the quality of services delivered to service users, the wider community and funders and referrers Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This post requires the holder to do varying hours, which include early morning and late evening work. The post holder maybe required to work weekends. This post requires the holder to have an enhanced DBS check for adults and children at all times, and to be registered with socialwork England. Changes to personal circumstances which may affect this must be notified to your line manager immediately. Should you use your own car or company car, car documents will need to be provided, which include MOT, license, car tax and business car insurance. Any car offences or changes to documents which may affect your license must be notified to your line manager immediately. Under 25yrs cannot drive the house company car due to insurance.
