The Greendale Group is looking to appoint a new Assistant Accountant role to join our team based in Exeter. The Greendale Group is a successful family company which boasts a diverse range of businesses including the Greendale Business Park (close to Exeter and the M5), Greendale Farm Shop, a large working farm, a fishing business (Waterdance Limited), Exmouth Marina, as well as a number of other investments in both commercial and residential property across the South West. With rapid growth and an expected turnover in 2024 of circa 70m, it is an exciting time to join such a diverse business.
The role will involve working within a busy finance team on a diverse range of business areas and will primarily be supporting the Group Financial Controller preparing the monthly accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly journal production for various business areas, using ERP software, Excel and external systems.
Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including prepayments, accruals, deferred income and stock.
Assist in preparation of monthly variance analysis.
Working with the finance team to streamline transaction processing and improve data accuracy.
Support the processing of sales and purchase invoices, reconciling supplier and customer accounts as required.
Processing of supplier payments as appropriate.
Assist with updating the fixed asset register.
Maintain accurate financial records within NetSuite and assist in preparing reports.
Provide administrative support and assist in audits as required.
Other ad hoc duties as required.

Skills/Competences/Qualifications
Essential:
Previous experience in a finance role (accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, or accountancy).
Strong numeracy skills and high attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Previous experience with NetSuite or other accounting software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with suppliers, customers, internal teams and other external stakeholders as required.
Ability to manage high volumes of transactions and meet deadlines.
Professional and proactive approach to work and a good team player.
