Assistant Accountant (Projects)

who would like to help us reach our mission to "earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service".

Purpose of this role



Known internally as a Project Analyst, the purpose of this role is to monitor, analyse and report on project performance with primary focus on intercompany capital expenditure, income, and variations.

Your key responsibilities are



To monitor and investigate costs and income on projects generally, particularly major projects.

This includes analysing and commenting on over and under spends, liaising with all interested parties including, but not restricted to Commercial, Design, Construction and Finance departments as well as subsidiaries including Power On and Express Utilities.

Core Project Analysis.

Identify all issues relating to BOQs, variations and general intercompany project work and rectify any shortcomings in controls, procedures or otherwise that lead to inaccurate budgets and unbilled developer contribution.

Investigate and report on Capital Expenditure against budget for all projects, and particularly those considered to be major due to their plot size, connection size or contract value.

Ensure that all billing including siteworks quotes & variations on major projects are invoiced in full and that all opportunities to recover costs are taken.

To be the business partner liaising with Design, Construction Operations, Project Managers, Regional Construction Managers and Sales teams to enhance the process around budgeting and financial management of projects.

Produce monthly reports summarising progress with major projects and any actions emanating from investigation.

Provide assistance with the forecasting of the top 200 projects by size.

Other Project Analysis Tasks.

Investigate and report on projects deemed complete and close as appropriate.

Investigate and report on projects with significant deferred income balances as well as those with aged balances.

Monitor and report on monthly project charges and AROC from Power On and Express Utilities to ensure they are valid and correct.

Investigate any anomalies and liaise with contacts to establish whether controls and processes are sufficient and whether any overspends are billable to clients.

Ad-hoc analysis as directed by management.

Qualifications



AAT Studier or Graduate with relevant degree.

Experience/Knowledge



Experience in a finance role.

Intermediate Excel skills.

Abilities/Skills

Provide and maintain a professional attitude within the workplace.

Desirable



Begun further study (ACCA/ CIMA).

Experience in a large company.

Worked with D365 / Microsoft Dynamics.

Industry knowledge.
