Sugar House Island, located at in Stratford, London, is a prestigious mixed-use development containing a Build to Rent scheme managed by JLL. This canal-side neighbourhood incorporates properties of varied use-types, designed for people to reside, work and socialise within a vibrant living and commercial environment.



Situated in a well-connected East London location, Sugar House Island brings together a growing community amongst Newham's network of waterways, combining modern architecture with retained industrial heritage features.



We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Assistant Development Manager, with Property Management experience, to join our team at The Island. This dynamic role is responsible for delivering all aspects of the residential experience, from tenant move-in, through to day-to-day property operations and resident engagement, ensuring the highest standards are achieved - as measured through resident feedback and reviews. The ADM will also assist the Development Manager, FM and wider JLL team in creating a safe, compliant and efficient scheme. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, team management experience, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be adaptable to the varied challenges that each day brings. This position reports directly to the Development Manager.



Key Responsibilities:



Serve as the primary on-site contact for the concierge and maintenance teams responsible for handling resident queries and maintenance issues



Provide an escalation contact for residents and the landlord, working on site 5 days per week to build strong relationships with residents, the client and the team



Oversee the move-in and move-out processes, including inventory management, tenant communications, deposit negotiations and related administrative tasks



Coordinate and ensure completion of residential property maintenance and repairs



Liaise with the facility manager, team and contractors to ensure planned, preventative maintenance is carried out and any reactive issues within the block/estate are reported and addressed



Maintain and report on residential property compliance records



Conduct periodic property inspections and generate reports



Manage the process for making vacant apartments ready for re-letting



Organise and run regular resident engagement events



Oversee day-to-day building operations and maintain high service standards



Understand expenditure versus budget and implement controls to ensure sound financial management



Work to JLL company standards and be a role model for the on-site teams



Liaise with all relevant stakeholders including landlords, local authorities, estate managers, and residential & commercial tenants



Required Skills and Qualifications:



Proficiency in relevant IT systems and software



ARLA level 3 qualification (or actively working towards it)



Excellent stakeholder management skills



Strong time management and organisational abilities



Previous experience in residential letting and property management



People supervision or management experience



Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities



Excellent communication and interpersonal skills



Detail-orientated with a focus on maintaining high-quality service standards
