The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as an Assistant Director in our Corporate Affairs Department. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Assistant Director will be responsible for supporting the Corporate Affairs Department's strategy while ensuring alignment of communications, panels and corporate events with the Authority's strategic annual business plan. The successful candidate will work closely with the various departments in the Authority and be knowledgeable in financial services. The incumbent will have the skills to explain complex information clearly and concisely and work with peers and staff to ensure information accuracy. The Assistant Director will work closely with various levels of department management teams.
This is a key role for the Authority and the post-holder will be responsible for but not limited to:
Acting as sub-editor for the Authority's publications, as assigned (e.g. Annual Report, Business Plan, quarterly Regulatory Updates, newsletters), ensuring schedules are in place to manage production processes and providing a professional and timely product
Creating and editing detailed articles for press releases, publications, magazines, newsletters, reports, presentations, and speeches
Assisting in directing and supporting external corporate events, panels, speeches, etc.
Overseeing and monitoring the performance of direct reports and providing routine mentoring and feedback and preparing formal performance appraisal reports
Speaking and writing in a clear, consistent and credible manner, selecting the right tone and position for the situation and audience
Developing and implementing approved communication tasks
Analysing organisational strengths and weaknesses and combining these with knowledge of the industry, market and organisation to develop a long-term strategy
Assisting in the execution of the business plans, annual reports, speeches, consultation papers and guidance notes
Participating and supporting in leading when applicable in internal events
Analysing documents to maintain continuity of style of content
Managing updates and revisions to technical literature
Assisting in responding to media inquiries
Performing other related work and special projects as assigned by management in accordance with competencies normally associated with the post
This position requires a proven technical and business background. Therefore, the post-holder must have:
A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, including Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, English/Technical Writing, Business or Journalism
A minimum of ten (10) years' relevant experience, of which at least five (5) years should be at a senior level in the financial services sector
A demonstrated ability to write for publications, annual reports, speeches and solid, diverse writing skills
Experience in creating and overseeing external corporate events and panels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to present concepts in new ways and from new perspectives
A demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure and tight deadlines
Ability to prioritise work, well organised and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven organisation
The ability to work well with groups of people and individually to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
A strong sense of teamwork and the ability to both manage and execute initiatives
Proficiency in MS Office
