The Flood Risk Management Team are responsible for a wider range of regulatory functions principally identified within the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991:
Regulatory functions (Consenting and Enforcement),
Developing and Maintaining a Local Strategy
Flood Investigations,
Asset Management,
Sustainable Drainage Approval, Inspection and Adoption
Flooding Awareness and Communication.
The team further, delivers a wide range of Flood Alleviation schemes which includes, Natural Flood Risk Management (NFM), Sustainable Drainage (SuDs), Property Flood Resilience/Resistance (PFR) measures along with more traditional interventions to mitigate flooding from 'local sources' (Surface Water, Ground Water and Ordinary Watercourses).
We are seeking to appoint a suitable person to the role of '
Assistant Engineer (SuDs)
. The post-holder will be contributing to the development, implementation, and management of all requirements of the Land Drainage Act 1991, Flood Risk Regulations 2009 Flood and Water Management Act 2010 with a principal focus around
Schedule 3 (Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDs))
and
the SuDs Approval Body
.
Therefore, it is essential that applicants must have a keen interest and knowledge of drainage (Sustainable Drainage Systems) and/or Flood Risk Management. The post-holder must possess an HNC/HND or higher-level qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a similar discipline.
Furthermore, it is essential that the post-holder have experience of Project Feasibility/Appraisals, Flood Investigation, and a range of experience utilising Autocad and GIS systems. Notably it would be desirable for the post holder to have experience related to Site/Contract Supervision, Hydraulic Modelling/Mapping and Asset & Risk Management.
The role will also support the wider responsibilities of the LLFA, SAB and LDA regulatory bodies and may assist the team to play its part in tackling Climate change and meeting its Carbon reduction targets across the services.
