Royal Troon Golf Club, formed in 1878, is a prestigious Members Club that allows limited access to its courses to visitors. It is an Open Championship venue that has hosted 10 Opens, 2 Senior Opens and 1 Women's Open together with a multitude of Scottish and other championships. The Club also takes pride in its development of Juniors and provides first class facilities both on its courses and in the clubhouse for all ages.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and dynamic Assistant Golf Club Secretary to support the overall operations of the Club. In this new but pivotal role, you will work closely with the Secretary and other senior staff to enhance the Member experience, assist in overseeing daily operations including the club's visitor engagement and ensure the highest standards of service and quality are maintained.
Responsibilities
Support the Club Secretary in the management and running of a complex organisation
As Assistant Secretary, ensure that continuity of club operations can always be maintained
In collaboration with the management team, ensure compliance with club policies, procedures and Health and Safety and maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere for members, their guests and visitors
Together with senior staff, oversee the training and development of all staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork
Assist in preparation of management accounts, budget management and reporting, ensuring financial targets are met
From time to time assist in the overseeing of projects ensuring the outcome results in the development coming in on time, to the required specification and within budget
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
4+ years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a golf club or golf industry
Strong understanding of golf and industry standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service
Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
Preferred:
Experience with event planning and coordination
Experience with project management
Certification from a recognised golf management programme
Financial literacy
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
Familiarity with club management software and other software used in golf clubs
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Personal Attributes, Values and Beliefs
Strong leadership skills with a collaborative approach to team management
Ability to work independently and use own initiative
Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills
Passion for the game of golf and commitment to enhancing the member and visitor experience
