In the role of Assistant Group Tax Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Group Tax Manager and wider Group Tax team with IFRS tax reporting, tax compliance, tax risk management and tax planning activities.
The role:
As Assistant Group Tax Manager your focus will be: Calculate quarterly tax figures for the Group, including full year forecast ETR and cash tax paid.
Prepare tax figures and disclosures for statutory accounts of UK and Hong Kong group companies.
Provide tax accounting training and support to Schools and Regions in line with Group Tax guidance.
Identify and implement further improvements to tax reporting processes, including tax data collection. Support with preparation of UK VAT returns (outsourced to external advisor).
Support with fulfilling the Group's Pillar Two compliance obligations.
Assist with preparation of corporate income tax returns for UK, Hong Kong and other central entities.
Calculate the current and deferred tax figures for year-end group reporting, including tax notes to the accounts.
Manage school tax data collection process, including review, challenge and analysis of submissions.
Support with tax audit process, including liaising with Group auditors, providing data and analysis and responding to audit queries.
Manage the Group's transfer pricing and recharge processes and support with documentation and notification requirements.
Assist with Senior Accounting Officer and Corporate Criminal Offence requirements. Assist with integration of acquired schools.
Assist with tax planning projects.
The Successful Candidate will possess:
Qualified CTA / ACA working either in house or in practice, with audit of tax experience.
5+years of experience with solid tax compliance and reporting experience.
Strong experience in IFRS tax accounting.
Good understanding of UK tax legislation.
Expertise in Excel and operating financial systems.
High level of financial numeracy and analytical ability.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Working experience of Longview or other tax reporting software.
Experience of OneStream or Navision accounting systems would be an advantage.
International and cross-border tax experience.
UK VAT experience.
