As deputy to the Head Person, you will play a key role in overseeing the daily operations and management of Wellbottom Yard. You will ensure the highest standards of horse care and contribute to the coordination of staff both on the yard and at the sales. This is a hands-on position requiring practical horsemanship skills as well as administrative oversight and team leadership qualities to ensure the smooth and professional running of the sales yard.

Key Responsibilities:

General yard duties (sweeping, mucking out, etc.) Preparing and taking horses to sales Cleaning and care of tack and equipment Bandaging horses Responsibility for hand walking, lunging, putting horses on horse walker Communicating effectively with colleagues to ensure a collaborative team environment. Liaising with the Head person, vets and other stakeholders that come into the yard. Representing, and upholding the reputation of Godolphin both inside and outside the organisation e.g. at the sales.

Qualifications

Experience turning horses out to a high standard i.e. plaiting/pulling manes, clipping. Leadership skills (previous leadership experience is a bonus). Good horsemanship knowledge. Effective communication skills. Horse welfare knowledge. Awareness of Health and Safety requirements and be responsible for ensuring these requirements are met in the yard at the sales for both horse and staff. NVQ Level 2 or above in Racehorse Care & Management (desired but not essential)
