A small, specialist independent school in the RH6 area is seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Headteacher to lead on Teaching, Learning and Inclusion (SENDCo).
The school caters for just 34 students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and associated learning differences. This is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role in a nurturing, close-knit setting where your impact will be significant and immediate.
The successful candidate will take a strategic lead on SEND provision and inclusive teaching across the school. As part of the senior leadership team, you will shape the quality of education, support staff development, and ensure the best possible outcomes for all students.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the design, implementation, and monitoring of effective SEN strategies.
Supporting and coaching teaching staff to deliver inclusive, high-quality lessons.
Overseeing EHCPs, annual reviews, and multi-agency liaison.
Monitoring the impact of SEND interventions and whole-school inclusion practices.
Working closely with families and external partners to meet students' individual needs.
Contributing to whole-school development and improvement planning.
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
Is a qualified teacher with significant experience in SEN/SEMH/ASC settings.
Holds (or is currently working towards) the NASENCO qualification.
Has a strong and demonstrable track record of improving teaching and learning, and leading effective SEND provision.
Is reflective, strategic, and passionate about improving life chances for young people with complex needs.
Enjoys working in a small-school environment and is eager to help shape and grow an ambitious and evolving provision.
