We currently have an opening for an Assistant Health & Safety Manager to join our existing team. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and proficiency, particularly in the realms of cut and carve and new build commercial projects in the UK.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Minimum 5 years of health and safety management experience in the UK
- Background in construction and refurbishment works
- Preferably, a degree holder; however, relevant experience will also be considered
- Experience in working on projects ranging from 1k to 6 million
- Proactive - A proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential safety issues before they escalate and working with the operatives and sub-contractors to resolve the issues in a sensible manner.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and best practices.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare detailed reports on health and safety performance, incidents, and compliance status for management review.
Provide training and support to employees on health and safety practices, including first aid protocols.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes, implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, incidents, training sessions, and audits.
Promote a culture of health and safety awareness throughout the organisation.
Requirements
Proven experience in a health and safety management role or similar position.
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
Certification in first aid is highly desirable.
Proficient in conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying issues related to health and safety incidents.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels within the organisation.
