Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and proactive

Assistant Dental Practice Manager

to support the day-to-day running of our busy orthodontic practice. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with both the team and patients. This role is key to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the practice while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

Support the Operations Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the orthodontic practice. Supervise and coordinate staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment. Act as a first point of contact for patient queries, ensuring a professional and empathetic approach. Assist with rota management, appointment scheduling, and workflow efficiency. Contribute to financial administration, including monitoring budgets and resources where required. Support HR functions such as recruitment, training, appraisals, and staff development. Ensure compliance with CQC and GDC regulations, policies, and procedures. Monitor and maintain practice standards in patient care, health & safety, and infection control. Actively contribute ideas and solutions to improve operational efficiency and patient experience. Cover management responsibilities when the Practice Manager is absent.

When required, support the team by carrying out dental nursing and/or reception duties, particularly to cover business needs or staff annual leave.


Experience & Skills

Previous management experience is

not required

; however, eagerness to learn and grow in the role is essential. Experience in a dental, orthodontic, or healthcare setting is desirable. Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for team and patient interactions. A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a willingness to develop new skills. Good knowledge of compliance standards (CQC, GDC, NHS) is advantageous. Competence in using dental practice management software and IT systems is preferred. Flexibility and willingness to assist across different roles within the practice when needed.
Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: 24 - 40 per week
