Purpose
The role of Assistant Project Manager is to plan, execute and deliver major property projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes the acquiring of resources and co-ordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver property projects according to the plan.
The Scottish Power portfolio will undergo a rationalisation over the next few years which will include the closure of existing owned and leased properties and the construction and fit out of new properties to meet the needs of the business. Key responsibilities will be to define the project scope, goals and deliverables and direct and manage project development from beginning to end to ensure delivery on time, within budget and with safety at the forefront of everything we deliver.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
Ensure resource availability and allocation
Develop a detailed project plan to track progress
Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
Report and escalate to management as needed
Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
Perform risk management to minimise project risks
Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Skills and Requirements
SkillsAbility to manage several concurrent projects ensuring the optimum level of support and resource at all times
Ability to influence at the highest level to ensure Business Plans are acceptable and complementary to the group's goals and objectives.
Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in high pressure environment is crucial.
Financial Management of Major Project Budgets
KnowledgeKnowledge of individual business change requests process or business cases investment processes
Knowledge of risk management processes and application of controls
Knowledge of health, safety and environmental statute and CDM Regulations
Knowledge of construction, architectural, mechanical and electrical building designs and implementation
ExperienceExperience in construction related disciplines e.g. construction, mechanical, electrical, FM, health and safety
Experience of risk management and project controls implementation

Minimum CriteriaKnowledge of construction-related disciplines, Health and Safety Management, CDM Regulations
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of change management processes and Experience of Statutory Approvals Process and requirements
Influencing and communication skills to ensure business rationale and project risks are known and understood by all stakeholders
Proven relationship management and team management skills
Ability to manage several concurrent projects at the one time ensuring the optimum level of support and resources at all times.
Special RequirementsFlexibility to work out-with normal working hour regularly to deal with planned workload or in response to emergency plans/business continuity/disaster recovery.
Flexibility to work in locations out-with normal working location and sometimes internationally
