Oak Vale Gardens

provides specialist neurorehabilitation support for adults living with acquired brain injuries and complex neurological conditions, including Guillain-Barre syndrome and other neuropathies.

We are looking for an

Assistant Psychologist

to join our multidisciplinary team, working under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Neuropsychologist. You'll contribute to assessments, formulations, and interventions that promote recovery, independence, and wellbeing, supporting individuals with cognitive, emotional, and behavioural changes following neurological injury or illness.

This is full time, 37.5 hour role

What you'll be doing





You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residentsSupport psychological and neuropsychological assessment, formulation, and intervention. Assist in developing and implementing behaviour support and rehabilitation plans. Apply and train staff on

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

principles, including

functional analysis

and

data collection

to monitor and evaluate behavioural interventions. Contribute to

psychological formulations

and care planning within a multidisciplinary framework. Plot and interpret behavioural and outcome data to inform practice and service evaluation. Support the delivery of

cognitive and behavioural rehabilitation

programmes under supervision, including 1:1 and group sessions. Participate in audit, research, and service development projects. Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records and contribute to reflective practice.

We are seeking someone who is analytically minded yet compassionate; with experience in the field. You should be comfortable thinking both statistically and psychologically, and work well in busy and fast-paced environments.

Essential Criteria

Minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology (eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the BPS). Experience (paid or voluntary) working with individuals with neurological, mental health, or complex behavioural needs. Knowledge of psychological formulation, functional analysis, and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) frameworks. Confidence with data plotting and analysis to evaluate interventions and outcomes, using tools such as Excel or SPSS. Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills, both in writing and verbally. Reflective practice skills and ability to work under supervision.

Desirable Criteria

Familiarity with cognitive rehabilitation and systemic or behavioural approaches. Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards). Masters degree in a relevant field of psychological knowledge and practice
