The role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our busy, friendly team based in person at our Head office in Blackpool. As we continue our planned UK growth strategy, we now need several new team members for long term opportunities. We currently have this newly created role on the back of a series of sustained large project wins.

You will be someone who is positive and enthusiastic with a strong focus on customer service, attention to detail and positively contribute to the role and team you work in. The ability to work towards deadlines whilst working in a conscientious manner using your own initiative. The ability to plan, organise and prioritise work is essential and to be able to work with colleagues of all levels, both internal and external. Good verbal and written communication skills are a must. This is an office based role and not site based.

Key job duties

Take measurements and produce estimates. Preparation of tender and bid documents, including bills of quantities. Assessment and valuations of variations Obtain competitive sub-contractor quotations. Assist with purchasing materials. Visit sites to assess progress and compare to plans. Assist with site preparation activities. Identify areas of material and labour costs, and provide input on ways to improve value for money. Provide input on ways to improve the companies environmental impact and waste reduction. Act at all times as a representative of the company Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate

A successful candidate for this role must have:

Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying/Studying towards a relevant qualification Driving licence and use of vehicle I.T proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel. Ambitious and self-motivated Ability to work in a team and have confidence to have a positive impact on the company. Must have Right to work in the UK, sponsorship not available.
