St George's Childcare is an Award winning nursery, pre-school and Out of school club (rated Good by Ofsted) with over 30 years experience of providing the very best care and our long-serving staff have a wealth of knowledge of child development and enjoy being part of a happy team and working in a fun and supportive environment.

We are passionate about delivering the very best quality childcare and want our children to learn, play and explore indoors and out and have lots of fun.

We are looking for:

1 X Room Leader Assistant for our 2-3 year old room.
7.30am - 6.30pm 4 days a week = 40 hours/week all year round.

Salary 12.50-13.59/hour = 26,000 - 28,267 /annum

Requirements:

Relevant Childcare qualifications with suitable experience (Level 2 min.) If Level 2, need to be willing to train towards a level 3 qualification DBS check and written references dependent
Reporting to: Room Leader and The Childcare Managers

Key Responsibilities:



Know and support St George's ethos, vision and curriculum. Support and help implement all ideas and decisions made by the SCL. Be responsible for ensuring your staff follow all St George's policies, procedures and staff handbook requirements and be able to challenge staff who do not adhere to these. Role model outstanding practice at all times and promote British Values. Have a good knowledge of the EYFS and Statutory Requirements. Use the Characteristics of Effective Learning to reflect on practice. Use intent, Implementation, Impact and support your staff with understanding. Ensure activities are around the needs and interests of each individual child. Work closely with SCL, other SCL's and Deputy SCL's to ensure smooth transitions for the children. Work in partnership with colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of each child. Mentor the team, students and volunteers and be a positive point of contact to discuss praise or concerns as required by the SCL.
In the absence of SCL or if required by SCL:

Organise and lead staff meetings recording minutes for future reference. Be responsible for your teams' supervisions and provide constructive feedback for their performance reviews. Recognise staff training needs/share with Debs our Staff Development Lead and childcare managers Ensure your team completes regular moments for each key child's online learning journals. Ensure they are current, consistently of a high standard and up to date Regularly check first aid boxes and ensure they are full and in proper order requesting whatever needed before it runs out.

An Assistant Senior Childcare Leader Knows and Understands:



the expected patterns of children's development from birth to 5 years and have an understanding of further development from age 5 to 7. the importance of promoting diversity, equality and inclusion, fully reflecting cultural differences and family circumstances - Cultural Capital. the importance of undertaking continued professional development to improve own skills and early years practice. the legal requirements and guidance on health and safety, security, confidentiality of information, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. how to respond to accidents, injuries and emergency situations. safeguarding policies and procedures, including child protection, recognise when a child is in danger or at risk of abuse, and know how to act to protect them. Types of abuse include domestic, neglect, physical, emotional and sexual. how to prevent and control infection through ways such as handwashing, food hygiene practices and dealing with spillages safely.

General

:

Understand budgets and the need to be sustainable to help SCL running your room budget. You will have a basic understanding of IT, and be able to complete online learning journals You will have a 'can do' attitude and really promote St George's at all times remembering you are an ambassador both inside and out. You will take part in fund raising activities as they arise and use these events to build a stronger relationship with your team, children and their families. You will ensure all areas are clean, inviting and stimulating for the children.
