Due to the continued success and expansion of our business, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Assistant Yard Supervisor at Exeter Branch

The Role

To support the Yard Supervisor in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the yard, ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment. The role involves supervising yard staff, maintaining stock control, ensuring high levels of health and safety compliance, and delivering excellent customer service.

equirements

Assist in the daily supervision of yard staff to ensure smooth operations and adherence to company standards. Ensure goods are received, checked, and stored correctly, and that stock is well organised and accessible. Support with stock takes and inventory checks, reporting discrepancies. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised yard at all times. Load and unload customer and company vehicles safely using forklifts and other equipment (if certified). Deliver excellent customer service by helping customers locate products and assisting with loading. Enforce and promote health and safety policies, ensuring all yard operations meet legal and company standards. Assist with staff training, mentoring junior yard operatives where appropriate. Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the Yard Supervisor. Cover the Yard Supervisor role during absences when required.

Skills and Experience:

Previous experience in a Builders Merchants yard or similar environment. Forklift licence (counterbalance and/or reach) preferred. Knowledge of building materials and stock handling. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

The Hours

Week:1 Monday to Friday 07:00-16:00


Week:2 Monday to Friday 07:00-16:00 Saturday 08:00-12:00
