Job Description


Associate Director of Finance Business Partnering and Management Accounting Position with a balance of responsibilities that includes stakeholder engagement, commercial activity and operational analysis. You will report into the Director of Finance and have the opportunity to be a key decision maker within the organisation.

  • Lead and develop the Business Partnering and Management Accounting team.
  • Ensure the Business Partnering and Management Accounting team is working as trusted partners to internal stakeholders, assisting in the management of their finances and decision making.
  • Work closely with colleagues on student number planning and interpretation of enrolments and attrition for effects upon university finances.
  • Analyse operational performance and report to the senior leadership team.
  • Provision of timely and quality financial information and appraisals in support of improved decision making in all areas of university activity, both internally and with external partners.
  • Work with Head of Finance Systems on reporting functionality so that senior managers have more real-time access to, and ownership, of budgets.
  • Work with the Financial Accounts team and manage the Business Partnering and Management Accounting team input to, and assist with, the production of the year-end accounts.
  • To work with external auditors on the examination of the annual accounts and be a liaison point with internal auditors.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected by the Director of Finance and to be willing to provide cover for the Director of Finance when the occasion arises.
Flexible Working Arrangements |Ability to be a key decision maker
  • Qualified accountant (for example ACA/CIMA/ACCA/ International equivalent)
  • Commercial finance background, able to demonstrate the creation of a results driven environment
  • Experience of managing a team of qualified professionals
  • Experience and ability in building strong working relationships and influencing at all levels, highly adept at stakeholder management
  • Experience working within higher education or a commercial organisation
  • Ability to influence key business strategies and initiatives, taking a strategic view of the business and impact on Finance to improve and deliver a proactive service
