We have an opportunity for a Associate Director of Clinical Services to join their team of staff in the Senior Management Team.


This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours per week across 5 days. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern and will be included in the Senior Management Team on-call rota.

Duties of this role include:



Lead on all aspects of nursing and clinical service delivery, ensuring care is safe, effective, responsive, and in line with CQC standards and best practice guidelines. Provide visible, professional leadership across clinical areas, fostering a culture of clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and accountability. Oversee incident management, safeguarding, clinical risk, and root cause analysis processes, ensuring learning and action planning are embedded in practice. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical strategy, aligning nursing services with wider organisational goals and local population needs. Drive innovation in service models, patient pathways, and digital health initiatives to improve quality and efficiency. Lead change management initiatives that enhance care delivery, patient flow, and operational performance. Lead the recruitment, retention, development, and performance management of the nursing and clinical workforce. Promote a strong safety culture by overseeing compliance with infection prevention, medicines management, falls prevention, pressure ulcer management, and patient observations. Manage clinical budgets, ensuring effective use of resources while maintaining care quality. Contribute to business planning, cost improvement initiatives, and procurement decisions. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), clinical metrics, and workforce data to inform service planning. Work closely with the Executive Director, Medical Director, and senior leadership team to align clinical operations with corporate strategy.

Applicants should meet the following criteria: (What do you have?)



Registered Nurse (Adult) or Allied Health Professional with active NMC/HCPC registration. Significant experience in a senior clinical leadership role within hospital-based services at Clinical Services Manager or Modern Matron level. . Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Nursing, Healthcare Leadership, or related field. Strong understanding of clinical governance, regulatory standards (e.g., CQC), and national nursing policy. Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive service improvement in complex healthcare environments. Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills. Financial and operational acumen, with experience managing budgets and resources. Leadership or management qualification (e.g., ILM, MBA, NHS Leadership Academy programme). Experience working in both NHS and private healthcare sectors. Background in a specialist nursing area (e.g., critical care, surgery, oncology). Experience with digital transformation, electronic health records, or innovation in care delivery. Track record of research, quality improvement, or service redesign.
