About the role

The UCL Institute of the Americas is seeking to fill an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) position in Latin American Studies.



The position is available from 1 September 2025 to 30 June 2026. The position is to cover the teaching of a colleague on research leave.



The postholder will carry out teaching and administration within the Institute relating to Latin American Studies. We particularly welcome applicants with research expertise in one or more of the following areas: political and urban anthropology; state-society relations; urban development and informality; criminal groups and illicit economies; the politics of insecurity; policing and prisons; or race, gender, and ethnicity in Latin America.



The expected starting salary is 46,796 per annum pro rata, inclusive of London Allowance.

About you

Applicants must have a PhD in Anthropology or related disciplines. Candidates must have received their doctorate before 1 August 2025.



Candidates should have proven experience of teaching and assessment at university level in Latin American anthropology and/or urban anthropology, or related fields.
