Astrophoria Foundation Year Programme Engineering Subject Lead

Oxford, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The Astrophoria Foundation Year (AFY) Programme seeks to appoint an Engineering Science Subject Lead for the AFY Chemistry, Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS) course.
The role is fixed term until 31st July 2028. The role is equivalent to 0.2FTE and will have joint oversight with the Chemistry and Materials Science Subject Leads for the Foundation Year CEMS course and specific responsibility for the relevant part of the course. The post holder will have a range of duties including being part of the CEMS academic team, organising specific areas of the syllabus, writing and marking examinations and assessments, producing course materials and providing supervisory support and line management for course teaching staff. Note that within the CEMS course academic team, the Engineering Subject Lead will take responsibility for EITHER the Physics syllabus and teaching, OR the Maths syllabus and teaching with responsibility for the other taken by the Materials Subject Lead, while the Chemistry Subject Lead will take responsibility for the Chemistry syllabus and teaching. Please ensure your application includes whether you could act as Physics lead, Maths lead or either, since both the Engineering and Materials Science Subject Leads are currently in recruitment.

The AFY Programme is a one-year fully-funded foundation programme for UK state school students with significant academic potential, who have experienced severe personal disadvantage and/or disrupted education which has resulted in them being unable to apply directly for an Oxford undergraduate degree programme.
Please see the job description and AFY website for more information on the course structure and module detail. It is essential that applicants have a professional connection to the relevant Department within the University of Oxford.
