Position Package: 37 hours per week, although part time will be considered.
Please be aware that there is an expectation to be in the office a minimum of two working days a week.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Connected Communities team and applications are invited for the post of Asylum Seeker Support Worker. If you think you would be a good fit for our team, we would love to hear from you.
The Connected Communities team works with asylum seekers, refugees and migrants across Newport and supports people with their new lives in the UK. The team also covers Community Cohesion within the city. We are looking for a person with the drive and commitment to work as a support worker in our newly formed asylum seeker support worker team.
The successful candidate will: Have proven ability to maintain databases and complete reports
To act as a key worker for families living in the LA and effectively manage a case load
Be able to draw up up effective support plans refecting their ongoing needs and that enable families on their path to independence in the UK
To be able to signpost families to the right agencies to support them, such as housing, employment and health
To have a good understanding of how to support families with their move on options from their initial accommodation
Be a highly proactive team player. We thrive on a can-do approach to service delivery
