Athletics Strength & Conditioning Coach (part Time)

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The Role

Track Academy is looking for an S&C coach who can build robust, fast athletes across our sprint and middle-distance pathway (ages 11-21), and who's comfortable coaching on the track as well as in the gym. You'll deliver small-group sessions, integrate with the sprint coaches, and help athletes connect how they move with how they perform on the clock. We time key reps, protect quality, and coach recovery with as much intent as the work itself.

What You'll Do

Plan and deliver age-appropriate S&C that supports our accumulation ? transmutation ? realisation season flow (robustness ? event-specific qualities ? peaking). Blend strength/power work with track needs (alactic speed touches weekly; glycolytic progressions for SE/SpE; tempo/aerobic for recovery and repeatability). Coach track-side warm-ups, short accelerations, and wickets on speed days; respect prescribed intensities and rest to target the right energy systems. Time key reps, spot fatigue/technical drop-off, and know when to extend rest or cut sets to protect quality. Collaborate with sprint coaches on weekly fast-metre targets and SE/tempo volumes so athletes hit the right load without blurring days. Keep concise records (session plans, loads, rep times, notes) and provide clear, positive cues to athletes.
You'll Be Great At This If You Have

Essentials:

UKSCA accreditation (or working towards), or equivalent S&C quals; First Aid; safeguarding/DBS (or willingness to obtain).
Nice to Have

Experience with VBT/med-ball profiling, timing systems (Freelap/Video), and basic load monitoring. Athletics background (100-400 m focus), return-to-run progressions, or tendon-friendly loading strategies. A track-aware S&C lens: you understand how sprint mechanics, rest discipline, and session intent drive adaptation (not just volume). Experience programming for youth and emerging athletes; you can scale exercises, coach movement quality, and keep sessions engaging. Confident communication and calm track-side presence; you can give one or two actionable cues and let the athlete work.
