An opportunity to be part of an innovative team that makes a difference to the education and safeguarding of children in Norfolk. Working in our Service will give you the opportunity to provide support so that Norfolk children and young people receive the very best from their education.

The role supports Norfolk County Council in meeting its legal duties around school attendance, children missing education, child employment and safeguarding. Under the management of the Attendance and Entitlement Manager, Attendance and Entitlement Officers (AEOs) ensure the service is delivered in line with legislation, guidance, and local protocols. AEOs deliver the LA's core attendance offer in line with Working Together to Improve School Attendance , including leading Targeting Support Meetings (TSMs), advising on individual cases, and supporting children missing education.

The post holder will need to work on their own initiative and make decisions whilst working in accordance with statutory guidance and legislation. We are looking for a confident, highly organised and experienced person who can support us to drive further improvement in attendance rates. The post holder will be responsible for providing education settings with policy information, guidance and advice relating to attendance and working with parents to secure education for children who are not on a school roll. In order to achieve this, the role will require the post holder to work alongside a wide range of teams within Children's Services and external organisations such as the Magistrates' Courts and solicitors acting on behalf of parents.

The successful candidate will be expected to understand safeguarding responsibilities for vulnerable groups (children, young people, and adults), including how to raise concerns appropriately. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
