Bridgwater College Academy, part of the Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Support Officer to join our team.


The Role



The Attendance Support Officer will play a crucial role in leading, managing, and improving student attendance and punctuality. You will work closely with students, parents, carers, and staff to remove barriers to attendance, deliver impactful interventions, and promote positive engagement with education.



Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the efficient tracking and monitoring of student attendance using school systems. Leading and coordinating Attendance Support Meetings with families. Producing attendance reports for leaders and external agencies. Working with the Trust Attendance Lead, Educational Safeguarding Service, and other professionals to improve attendance outcomes. Conducting home visits where required and supporting students with barriers to attendance, including school refusal or medical needs. Championing the Academy's attendance policies and procedures, ensuring legal requirements are met.



About You



We are looking for someone with:
5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above. Experience in an office or administrative environment. Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure. Experience of working with children, young people, and families. Confidence in using IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office 365. The ability to deal with sensitive issues with tact, discretion, and confidentiality.
