Audit And Accounts Manager

Glasgow, SCT, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

You've spent years making sense of complex financial statements, guiding teams through audits, and ensuring accounts stand up to scrutiny. Yet lately, you might feel weighed down by rigid office hours, bureaucratic roadblocks, or a lack of meaningful growth. What if your next move let you reclaim balance, have real influence, and work with people who truly value your expertise?

What You'll Gain (Beyond a Paycheck)

Flexibility That Lets You Breathe:

Imagine wrapping up on Friday and actually enjoying your weekend, whether that means exploring Glasgow's West End cafes or heading home early for family time. In this role, you'll have the autonomy to manage your schedule: start early to beat the traffic or build in a midweek finish for that long-overdue hike in the Highlands.

Clarity Around Your Future:

You deserve more than vague promises. Here, you'll co-create a development plan: from leading small audit teams to shaping strategic financial decisions at board level. Regular one-on-one check-ins with experienced mentors mean you'll always know what's next, no guessing, no stalled promotions.

A Seat at the Table:

Too often, audit findings vanish into a report. In this position, your insights spark real conversations. You'll partner with department heads to transform compliance challenges into streamlined processes, ensuring your recommendations don't just land, you see them implemented.

A Culture That Feels Like Home:

You won't be "just another accountant." You'll join a supportive team where colleagues celebrate birthdays, check in if the day's been tough, and cheer each other on. Whether you're sharing ideas over post-work pizzas or collaborating on process improvements with a laugh, you'll feel part of something human-first.

About the Organisation & Its Values

Based in the heart of Glasgow, this respected firm believes audit and accounts go beyond boxes on a checklist. It's about empowering people to exceed expectations. Their culture is built on:

Transparency & Trust:

Information flows freely, so you're never left scrambling for answers.

Collaboration & Compassion:

Every challenge is tackled together; when one of you thrives, everyone does.

Growth Mindset:

Mistakes aren't punished, they're learning moments. Continuous training, real-world projects, and honest feedback keep you at the top of your game.
Whether you've led audits in public practice or steered in-house finance teams, you'll find your own values reflected here: a commitment to doing meaningful work, supporting peers, and maintaining life outside the office.

What We're Looking For (In Partnership With You)

If you bring:

Proven Leadership & Technical Mastery:

You've managed audit cycles from planning through to sign-off, in public practice or industry. You know how to coach a team to hit and exceed deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Analytical Curiosity & Commercial Insight:

You spot discrepancies, yes but you also uncover opportunities. You understand how financial data tells a story, and you're eager to translate that story into actionable strategies for business partners.

Collaborative Spirit & Empathy:

You thrive when mentoring others, guiding junior staff, welcoming feedback, and fostering a learning environment. You believe a successful audit process trusts people, not punishes them.

Cultural Fit & Authenticity:

You're energised by working with a tight-knit group that values honesty, humour, and humanity. Whether you're tackling a complex accounting issue or swapping weekend plans over coffee, you connect genuinely.
Then you'll be supported with:

Tailored Development Plans:

From CPD courses to leadership workshops, you'll get the resources you need, exactly when you need them.

Mentorship & Guidance:

A dedicated buddy and direct access to senior leaders mean you're never navigating tough questions alone.

Competitive Compensation & Benefits:

Market-leading salary, private healthcare, a robust pension plan, and generous holiday allowance ensure you can focus both on work and on life outside work.

Your Role, Reimagined

As Audit and Accounts Manager, you'll:

Lead end-to-end audit engagements that build trust with internal teams and satisfy external auditors. Oversee month-end and year-end accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all standards. Collaborate with department heads to turn audit findings into practical solutions, helping colleagues streamline processes rather than just highlighting gaps. Mentor and develop an ambitious team, fostering an environment where everyone is encouraged to learn, ask questions, and take ownership. Act as a strategic advisor: You won't just present numbers; you'll recommend how to use those numbers to improve profitability, manage risk, and support sustainable growth.
You'll have the freedom to refine processes, introduce tools, and truly own your function--knowing you're backed by leaders who trust your judgment.
