About the Role
Wrexham Local Authority is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to lead the development and rollout of the AET Schools Standards Framework for Wales. This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful change for autistic children and young people by shaping inclusive practice across educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of the AET Schools Standards Framework across Wrexham schools
Deliver high-quality professional development and coaching to educators and support staff
Collaborate with school leadership teams to identify best practice, co-create action plans, and monitor progress
Develop and embed an Autism Champion model to build capacity in mainstream settings
Work strategically with specialist resource provisions to further upskill teams
Facilitate multi-disciplinary working across education, health, and social care professionals
Engage stakeholders to ensure alignment and sustainability of inclusive practices
Evaluate project outcomes and evidence improvements in provision and learner experience.
Collaborative Practice
This role requires a strong commitment to collaborative working. You will:
Build trusted relationships with school leaders, ALN coordinators, and wider teams
Facilitate joint planning and review processes to support whole-school development
Champion coaching approaches that empower staff and foster reflective practice
Act as a bridge between schools and external agencies to ensure holistic support for learners.
About You
You'll bring deep expertise in autism education, strategic insight, and a passion for inclusive learning. You'll be a confident facilitator, skilled in coaching and capable of leading change across diverse teams.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Extensive experience supporting autistic learners in educational settings
Proven ability to deliver impactful professional development and coaching
Strong understanding of multi-agency working and stakeholder engagement
Experience working with school leadership to drive strategic improvement
Ability to identify best practice and co-develop action plans with measurable outcomes
Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
