Working 16 hours per week (evenings during school term time and between 9.00am-5.00pm during school holidays), we are looking for a highly motivated child-centred practitioner to join our Children's Services Team.
Our Children's Services team support autistic children (and those awaiting diagnosis), to access fun, engaging social opportunities designed to:
-Develop peer networks
-Increase confidence-
-Decrease social isolation
As part of our Children's Services Team, you will be central to the successful delivery of a high-quality child focussed service for autistic children and young people and provide a fun, meaningful programme of opportunity in partnership with the whole team.
You will be an ambassador for Perth Autism Support, building relationships across the community to further our vision to support autistic children and young people to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
Build relationships with children, young people and families to support them to achieve their goals through our term time and holiday activity programmes
Support delivery of activities in our Perth Centre and on a rota basis within our outreach hubs of Pitlochry, Crieff, Blairgowrie, Kinross and Perth North locality
Prepare and resource the activities
Ensure all health and safety and organisation processes are followed during activities
Effective and supportive engagement with parents/carers, always developing trusting and honest communication
Putting the child's voice at the heart of everything we do to collate views, thoughts and ideas
Supporting children to visit the centre and to familiarise themselves with the service prior to attending
Promoting independence
Working collaboratively with other service areas across the organisation
Undertaking a range of administrative tasks to support practical work with children including but not limited to; updating files, monitoring individual plans, reporting on accidents and incidents and other regulatory requirements including Child Protection
Requirements
Practical, demonstrable experience working in a childcare setting either as team member or volunteer OR looking to develop experience in a childcare setting
Understanding of autism and the work that we do at Perth Autism Support
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a range of people
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills
Ability to relate to children and young people
IT skills
MS Office
Happy to work flexibly in a small team
Prepared to understake practitioner qualification in line with SSSC requirements e.g. SVQ3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent
Will be required to register with SSSC and follow all Codes of Practice as set out to practitioners within Daycare of Children, and to ensure completion of Continuous Professional Learning
Will be required to have a clear disclosure check in accordance with the Protecting Vulnerable Group Scheme (cost will be met by Perth Autism Support)
Driver with access to a car would be desirable but is not essential for the role
