We are looking for a skilled Baggage Maintenance Engineer to help keep Birmingham Airport's baggage handling systems safe, reliable, and efficient. From conveyors and carousels to x-ray machines and control systems, you'll play a vital role in keeping operations running smoothly in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance on baggage handling systems.
Respond quickly to breakdowns, using fault-finding techniques to minimise disruption.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety obligations when performing maintenance tasks.
Use our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record, track, and analyse activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute technical expertise to projects.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and airport stakeholders to keep operations efficient.
Experience Required:
Recognised industry apprenticeship with electrical and mechanical qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 3).
Experience maintaining conveyor or automated material handling systems.
Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, with experience writing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve breakdowns quickly under pressure.
Experience working with CMMS, PLCs, and voltages from 24VDC to 415VAC.
Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and technical manuals.
